Are you in the market for a performance coupe? Are you bored with the seemingly identikit offerings from the premium German manufacturers? Ford has the car for you: the new Mustang.
On sale on the other side of the pond since the 1960s, the Mustang is an American institution. British muscle car fans will get their first taste of the original ‘pony car’ next year when it goes on sale in the UK complete with right-hand drive.
It’ll be available with a brace of petrol engines. Kicking off the range will be a 2.3-litre, four-cylinder Ecoboost engine developing 304bhp. Those after the authentic muscle car experience will be pleased to hear that a 5.0-litre V8 will also be offered, kicking out a tyre-smoking 420bhp.
Ford is also claiming that the Mustang will benefit from modern suspension – the Achilles heel of past models – tuned to European tastes, so it should be at home on your favourite B-road, as well as cruising on the high street.
If you prefer your muscle cars of an older vintage, you can search for a used Mustang here.
