Lexus has created arguably the ‘coolest’ addition to any car – wheels made of ice.
After three months of research, the manufacturer was able to create the frozen wheels that are able to replace alloy and rubber with ice. Each wheel took an incredible 36 hours to produce, with four sculptors utilising Japanese steel chisels and tools.
Acrylic inserts were added to the ice so that the wheel could cope with the weight of the Lexus NX crossover that they were being mounted to.
The wheels were deep frozen for five days at -30 degrees Celsius before being used to drive the NX down a London street. All four wheels were also lit up with blue LED lights to highlight the icy quality of the car’s very special rims.
Although visually stunning, we’d challenge anyone to take these wheels to a local fitter for a quote!
