As the new Honda NSX edges closer and closer to production, the Japanese marque has slowly been ramping up the hype machine.

Previously we brought you news that Honda had already opened the order books for the new mid-engined sports car, despite the fact it has yet to be seen in production spec and prices are a long way from being finalised.

This hasn’t stopped eager punters, who have already placed deposits with the aim of being among the first to drive this much anticipated car, which is a successor to the legendary Ayrton Senna-developed NSX of the 1990s.

Now, to give something for customers and fans alike to further drool over, Honda has released footage of its prototype in action on the track.

Ignore the Acura badging – the name of Honda’s US market only luxury division – this is the first time the Honda NSX has been seen driven as everyone wants to see it: in anger with its glorious V6 engine wailing.

It may only be a minute long, but it’ll certainly be enough to make the boys from Porsche sit up and pay attention.
