The electric Porsche Taycan, Vauxhall Corsa-e and Volkswagen Golf have scooped top honours at the News UK Motor Awards

Judged by the readers and motoring experts of publications like The Sunday Times and The Sun, the awards are now in their third year and aim to give awards to models from across the motoring spectrum. Jeremy Clarkson also picks winners, too.

And in 2020, it was the new Volkswagen Golf hatchback and Porsche Taycan that scooped The Sunday Times’ Car of the Year awards, meanwhile The Sun awarded the new Vauxhall Corsa-e EV its Car of the Year gong.

Rob Gill, Motors Editor at The Sun, said: “We love the Corsa in Britain but you’ll love the electric Corsa-e even more. It is a gem of a car. Fun, easy, smart and guilt-free with a real-world range to suit most people.

“It looks no different to a normal Corsa but it won’t stain your conscience or the lungs of little ones. This is the right car at the right time and a worthy winner of The Sun Car of the Year 2020.”

Elsewhere in the awards, Jeremy Clarkson awarded the Jaguar E-Type-based Eagle Lightweight GT his Supercar of the Year, while the new Mini John Cooper Works GP hot hatch was his ‘People’s Car of the Year’.
