Lucky enough to be considering a second-hand Porsche as your next car? There’s good news: the make has just extended the warranty on its second-hand cars from one year to two.

The offer covers cars sold through the Porsche Approved Used scheme from the beginning of the month. It means that the warranty given on second-hand cars comes close to matching that of a new Porsche.

The warranty is available on cars up to nine years old and those that have covered up to 125,000 miles. It is available only on Porsches sold by main dealers and is applied after the car has undergone a 111-point pre-sale check. Any faults found are corrected. At the same time Porsche checks out the car’s history to ensure that there are no surprises lurking.

Porsche says that the warranty covers, without restriction, all labour and parts costs for repairs to the engine, fuel and cooling systems, the transmission, steering, brakes, air conditioning and heating, electrics and body.

If you sell the car privately or back to a Porsche main dealer the warranty is transferable. Along with the warranty comes a roadside assistance package that includes road-side recovery, car hire and hotel accommodation where necessary.

More than two-thirds of all Porsches built are still on the road, which shows that the cars are built to last and, usually, cared for by their owners.
