Keeping tabs of the latest football score while on the move can be tricky – especially if your team isn’t broadcasted on key radio stations.

But Volkswagen has a solution that means football fans won’t need to miss out on a goal, even when driving. That’s thanks to a new free app called ‘We Score’, which is available to drivers of the firm’s latest Golf hatchback.

Offered through the in-built ‘Shop’ in the car’s infotainment system, you’re able to set three clubs and one national team. Should you be in the car when any of those clubs are playing, you’ll get live updates and scores, which can either be shown on the display or spoken with the Golf’s ‘text-to-speech’ function.

Volkswagen says the app covers the top two divisions and the main cup competition of each country, with the Premier League included, along with European championships such as the Champions League and Europa League.

The ‘We Score’ app is available to download now, and is supported by the Discover Pro and Discover Media systems.

The eighth-generation Volkswagen Golf reached showrooms in 2020, with one of the main highlights being its new digitalisation features, boasting all manner of connected technologies – one of which is ‘We Score’. Volkswagen also says that further similar products are in the pipeline.
