If you thought Jaguar’s cars were designed purely for the John Prescott’s of this world, take a look at this – the XFR-S super saloon.

Designed to compete with the likes of the BMW M5 and Mercedes E63 AMG, the XFR-S is a very different prospect from the laid back XF saloon on which it’s based.

Not only has Jaguar crammed a five-litre V8 petrol engine under the bonnet, but a supercharger has been fitted too – giving the XFR-S a hearty 542bhp on tap.

That power helps the big cat sprint from 0-60 in 4.4 seconds, and on to a limited top speed of 186mph – enough to give you and four passengers a thrill.

The interior has been given a rather sporty twist too. As well as a pair of body-hugging sports seats, there’s enough sporty R-S badging and carbon-fibre effect trim to reassure you that this is no ordinary XF.

If you’re interested, the XFR-S starts from £79,995, though if you’ve less budget, used examples of the standard XF are available from around £10,000 on Motors.co.uk.
