Are you constantly worried about being attacked by the undead? Perhaps you dread popping out to the shops for fear of being eaten alive by a pack of ravenous zombies? If so, fear not, as Hyundai has created a car just for you.

Based on the asymmetric three-door Veloster, the Hyundai Zombie Survival Machine – to give it its full and snappy title – features all the kit you’ll need to survive a zombie apocalypse, or get the kids to school, which as some parents will testify, amounts to the same thing.

It’s been built to celebrate ten years of comic book series and hit US TV show ‘The Walking Dead’ and was a collaborative effort between the Korean carmaker and series creator Robert Kirkman.

It will make its debut at this year’s star-studded Comic Convention in San Diego.

Looking like a refugee from the Mad Max films, the tricked out Veloster features a heavy-duty roof-mounted machine gun and a door-mounted flame-thrower to keep the groaning hoards at bay.

For those who like to get a bit more up close and personal, there are twin-mounted chainsaws on the front, knife blades in the rear bumper and enough sharp-edged armour pieces to impale any errant cyclist – sorry, cadaver.

Inside, the floor has been sprayed with an industrial grade protective coating, presumably to stop the blood of unfortunate passengers from soaking into the carpets. The roof has been reinforced to take the weight of the military hardware on top and there are numerous storage cubbies for the requisite ammunition and first aid kits.

Sadly, you can’t buy the Zombie Survival machine, but you can search our classifieds for a more sensible Hyundai here.
