The Citroen SpaceTourer has been given a new drivetrain option in the form of an eight-speed automatic gearbox now available with the model’s least powerful 2.0-litre diesel engine. First deliveries are set for October, with prices starting at £36,620.

The MPV’s 118bhp turbocharged unit, paired with the automatic, is said to bring a significant improvement to its towing capacity – this new drivetrain increases towing weight to 2.3 tonnes. Compared to the base manual 1.5-litre four-cylinder model, that’s a half-tonne improvement.

The new engine and gearbox combination is only offered on standard wheelbase SpaceTourers, as well as just two of the model’s four trim levels. ‘Feel’ variants get equipment like automatic headlights, rear privacy glass, front foglamps and cruise control as standard. This version of the SpaceTourer is aimed at consumers.

On the other hand, there is a ‘Business’ version targeted more towards corporate buyers. It can seat up to nine and is designed as a shuttle vehicle. Furthermore, the model features a tough plastic floor and air conditioning.

The Citroen SpaceTourer arrived in 2016. It comes in commercial vehicle and MPV versions, starting from £34,150. This new drivetrain adds to its already grand plethora of abilities.
