Here at Motors.co.uk, whilst we usually focus on providing automotive news and content, occasionally we find a worthy cause that we like to support. As such, we are proud to introduce you to Advent of Change which is the admirable contribution to the Christmas calendar market from a friend to the Motors.co.uk business, Kristina Salceanu. As the festive season approaches, we can’t think of a better way to give this Christmas than to where it’s truly needed and Kristina’s brainchild invites you to do just that.

Advent of Change is the revolutionary charity advent calendar of 2018 which invites customers to give back as they countdown to Christmas.

When opened, each door of the calendar reveals a different donation to one of 24 incredible charities spread across a number of causes including children, animals, the third world, healthcare, refugees and the environment. The calendar promises to devote 85% of the sale price directly to charity.

How it works

Each day represents a £1 donation to one of the causes and the benefactor receives accurate information detailing exactly how their donation is helping to make an integral difference, from feeding the homeless to protecting our oceans.

This social enterprise, born less than nine months ago, has already caught the attention of John Lewis & Partners, who are stocking the calendar in stores throughout the country and online.

They have also secured a number of exciting endorsements from household names such as Sir Richard Branson, Lawrence Dallaglio OBE, Virginia Mckenna OBE and Bob Wilson OBE.

Kristina Salceanu, Founder of Advent of Change, said: “Advent of Change began with one simple idea: to give the gift of giving at Christmas. And that small idea has already taken on a life of its own. It was really important to me to ensure we included charities that would be personally meaningful to everybody, which is why we’ve worked hard to include organisations across a wide range of sectors. The response so far has been staggering and I can’t wait for the funds raised to start changing the lives of those who need it most.”

This innovative idea comes at a time when alternative advent calendars – those containing beauty items, alcohol and food products, for example – have experienced a huge rise in popularity. This, combined with the annual peak in charitable donations during November and December, perfectly positions Advent of Change to use the festive countdown to really make a positive impact.

Advent of Change retails at £27.95, and can be purchased from the Advent of Change website (www.adventofchange.com) and in John Lewis & Partners shops and johnlewis.com from 4th October 2018.

Advent of Change is manufactured in the UK and has also been designed with the environment in mind, using FSC-certified paper, vegetable oil-based inks and biodegradable glues, and comes wrapped in a biodegradable potato starch film.
