For those motorists who like their superminis with a touch of cubism, then the Kia Soul is definitely worth a look.

The crossover, which matches supermini dimensions with mini mpv practicality, is the second generation model and was designed in California to target young college drivers.

It’s powered by a choice of 1.6-litre powerplants, one petrol or one turbodiesel, both one point six litres. An electric version is also offered which has a range of about 100miles.

The Soul may not be the most spacious crossover in its class, but the boxy dimensions means a boot that is well shaped and can be extended thanks to split folding rear seats.

The rest of the cabin is neatly laid out with some really nice touches like the funky air vents and speakers which have lights that react to the music.
