If there’s one car that hot hatch buyers have been waiting for this year, it has to be this: Audi’s S1.
It might be based on the ordinary A1 premium hatchback, but Audi has gifted the S1 with some added get-up-and-go – along with their legendary Quattro four-wheel-drive system.
Powered by a two-litre turbocharged petrol engine pumping out 227bhp, the pint-sized Audi is quick enough to put many full-sized hot hatches to shame. 0-60 is dealt with in under 6 seconds, and there’s a limited top speed of 155mph – enough to out-run cars like the Ford Focus ST and VW Golf GTi.
This is no stripped-out go kart though – as you’d expect of Audi, the S1’s interior is well built and full of premium touches. There’s the option of a powerful Bose stereo, a clever internet-connected multimedia system, and countless premium quality seat and trim options.
Interested? The S1 starts from just over £25,000, but if you’ve less budget, used versions of the standard A1 are available from around £10,000 on Motors.co.uk.
