Key changes on this new top-spec model concern styling, with the Sportline benefitting from 30mm lowered suspension, illuminated side bars and gloss black 18-inch alloy wheels. You also get a bold red strip that runs along the front grille, a large rear spoiler and a more prominent front bumper.
Prices for the new Transporter T6.1 start from £42,940, excluding VAT, with all models also getting more equipment included as standard. Highlights include leather and suede heated seats with honeycomb stitching, a reversing camera, digital cockpit system and a large eight-inch media system with satellite navigation, smartphone mirroring and DAB radio. A range of driver assistance tech is also available, including LED headlights, adaptive cruise control and front and rear parking sensors.
Volkswagen is also offering a new Sportline Black Edition grade, which is available from £45,190. This brings matte black details to the side bars and alloy wheels, as well as tinted windows and an Eibach coilover suspension setup. You also get a larger 9.2-inch touchscreen system as well.
All new Sportline models will come with a turbocharged 2.0-litre diesel engine producing a punchy 201bhp, paired to a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission. Volkswagen says this allows the Transporter to reach 60mph in just 8.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 126mph.
The new model is also available in both short and long wheelbase guises, as well as a panel van or Kombi guise – the latter offering a set of rear seats and windows.
Order books for the new Transporter T6.1 Sportline are set to open later this March, with first deliveries expected from July.
