This year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed will go down as one of the most memorable to date thanks partly to the booming sunshine but mainly the array of vehicles on offer and the sheer number exclusive unveilings by manufacturers keen to grab the public’s attention.
But for one journalist and rally commentator, the festival will be burnt onto the brain for a completely different reason, for he was gifted an exclusive ride around the Goodwood Forest rally stage with Skoda’s Sepp Wiegand in the fiery Fabia S2000.
Colin Clark – who boasts the Twitter handle Voice of Rally – is the lucky co-pilot in the video below but rather than scream like a frightened little girl he decides to attempt running commentary of the experience.
What ensues is some of the fastest automotive rambling we’ve heard since Murray Walker screeched over British Touring Cars races in the 1990s.
If you look closely, you can see rally driver Sepp Wiegand disconnect his intercom just before the lap begins, apparently Clark’s screeching was putting him off the racing line.
Clark Tweeted: “Thought @SeppWiegand was adjusting belts as we charged through rally stage! Was actually disconnecting intercom ‘cos I was shrieking so much!”
Take a look at the video below and witness some mightily impressive commentary in action
