Despite the growing trend of downsizing, there’s still a big demand for large 4x4s on the market, and one of the old kids on the block is the Mercedes M-Class.

The large Mercedes has evolved over the years from a rather utilitarian 4×4 into a more premium executive offering. Out has gone the rather drab dash, which has instead been replaced by a trim more associated with its luxury brand.

As you may expect for a large 4×4, there’s plenty of room for five people plus luggage, and the well-shaped boot can be extended further thanks to split folding rear seats.

There are three versions to choose from: An ML 250, and ML 350 or the hardcore performance version the ML63 AMG. Realistically, the 250 is the one that will make sense for most thanks to its mid-30mpg fuel economy.
