The Audi A5 Sportback-rivalling model represented a shift upmarket for Kia when it arrived in 2017 as a new premium executive model for the firm. While previously available with a choice of specifications and engines, the latest model is just offered in a flagship ‘GT S’ guise.
This features a powerful 361bhp 3.3-litre petrol engine, which produces 361bhp and 510Nm of torque, and allows the Stinger to reach 60mph in just 4.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 167mph – making it the quickest Kia model on offer. An eight-speed automatic gearbox is used, with power being sent to the rear wheels.
Styling updates aren’t extensive on the latest model, but include a new light signature at the front, along with full-width LED lights at the rear. New 19-inch alloy wheels are also available, while a new ‘Electric Blue’ shade joins the range.
Kia has aimed to move the cabin further upmarket with new materials and textures, with adaptations including a frameless rear-view mirror and upgraded 10.25-inch touchscreen. New connected services are also on offer.
Safety kit has also been enhanced with an improved blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert system, while a feature known as ‘intelligent speed limit assist’ can adapt the cruise control speed by noticing a change in road signs.
Other standard kit includes a 15-speaker Harmon/Kardon sound system, a 360-degree camera system and electric tailgate.
The new Stinger GT S is now available to pre-order, with first deliveries expected later in the year.
