Toyota Motor Europe has revealed that it sold 578,400 cars in the first half of 2019, and stated that over half of those vehicles were electrified.

A total of 303,400 hybrid cars were sold by Toyota and its sister luxury brand Lexus in the first six months of the year, and impressively, 99 per cent of the latter firm’s Western European sales were attributed to hybrids.

This, in part, is due to an increased push of electrified vehicles from the Japanese company which played a big part in making hybrids more commonplace with its Prius model.

New flagship models from the firm, such as the Corolla, Yaris and RAV4, are available as a hybrid, while the returning Camry is exclusively sold with an electrified powertrain equipped here in Europe.

Toyota also attributes some of its early 2019 successes to the reintroduction of famous nameplates. In addition to the Corolla and Camry badges returning, the newly-launched Toyota GR Supra has also ramped up excitement for the brand among car enthusiasts.

Do you like the idea of a Toyota, but can’t afford to buy new? Thankfully, there are plenty of used options from the brand available here at Motors.co.uk.
