Volkswagen has revealed the newest addition to its expanding SUV range, the T-Roc Cabriolet.

The decision to create a convertible version of the T-Roc makes it the only model in its segment to feature a retractable roof, and has been ushered in to replace the Golf and Beetle Cabriolets.

The T-Roc Cabriolet features a soft folding roof, which can be taken down in just nine seconds at speeds of up to 19mph.

Occupant safety was a key consideration during the design process, and a roll over protection system is included to protect the vehicle occupants. In the event of a roll, a protection device will be released from behind the rear headrests, ensuring that those in the interior stay safe.

Reinforced window pillars have also been fitted for additional security in the event of a crash.

The T-Roc will launch with a pair of petrol engines on offer – a 113bhp, 1.0-litre engine serves as the base option and the more powerful 148bhp, 1.5-litre unit. There will also be two trim-levels available from launch – Design and R-Line.

Pricing and specifications for the T-Roc Cabriolet are to be revealed at a later date, but if you can’t wait until then, check out deals on used Volkswagen T-Rocs here on Motors.co.uk.
