Tata Motors, an Indian-based manufacturer, wants to set a ‘new benchmark in the EV’ industry by launching a range of ‘aspirational’ EVs.
The news follows the firm announcing its new EV technology brand ‘Ziptron’. The powertrain technology is said to offer ‘class-leading zippy performance’.
The tech is comprised of a permanent magnet AC motor and features regenerative braking that allows the battery to be charged on the go. The company claims it has been ‘rigorously tested across 1 million kilometres’.
Not much has been said in terms of details about the EV line-up itself, but the manufacturer promised it will provide good performance, long range, a fast charging capability and a battery pack that has an eight-year warranty.
Guenter Butshek, CEO and MD of Tata Motors, said: “We are proud to present this state-of-the-art technology brand, Ziptron, which has been designed in-house while utilising our global engineering network.
“At the heart of our future EV line-up, this technology will deliver thrilling driving experience to our customers aspiring to go green.”
Tata hopes Ziptron will propel the future of electric mobility in India and accelerate the country’s adoption of EVs.
