Refreshed Mitsubishi L200 revealed

Mitsubishi has revealed a revised version of the L200 pick-up.

The L200, which is in its 40thanniversary year, is undergoing a revamp just under four years into the life of the fifth-generation model.

The re-styled pick-up will be going on sale in Thailand – where it is built – branded as the Triton later this month, and will roll out in other Asian markets before touching down in the UK in Summer 2019.

Aside from the visual update, the new L200 features an enhanced four-wheel drive system, and an expanded range of active safety and driver assistance systems. This includes forward collision detection and a blind spot warning system.

Another new string to the bow of the L200 is Hill descent control and bespoke off-road modes for surfaces including snow, gravel, rock and sand, furthering the ability of the pick-up off the beaten track.

The technical specs for the UK market version are yet to be declared, though whichever engines are available will now be mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox instead of the five-speed manual in the outgoing car. The current L200 is sold with a 2.4-litre diesel unit.

While a single cab variant will be available in certain markets, the UK will only see club and double cab variants.

Pricing for the new L200 is yet to be announced, but you can look at the range of existing Mitsubishi L200s listed on our site here.
