The personal car collection of the late actor and avid car collector Paul Walker has sold for over $2.3 million at auction.

The sale of Walker’s 21 cars, motorcycles and trucks, took place in Scottsdale, Arizona, and was hosted by auction house Barrett-Jackson.

One of the collection’s stand-out features was a series of five white BMW M3 Lightweight Editions. Only 126 of these M3s were made, making them unsurprisingly very rare and desirable.

This was quite apparent when the five were put under the hammer, all raking in between $220,000 to $258,500 each, except for one example – a 1995 E36 with only 4,600 miles on the clock – which sold for $385,000.

Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson, told The Hollywood Reporter: “Paul Walker has been compared to a modern-day Steve McQueen.

“[He] has inspired entire generations of car lovers. We worked closely with a close friend of Paul’s who helped care for Paul’s collection following his death; he was responsible for consigning and prepping the vehicles for auction.”

The Fast and Furious star, who played the character Brian O’Conner – rumoured to be returning in the ninth instalment of the series via CGI – tragically passed away following a Los Angeles car crash in which Walker was a passenger.

All proceeds from the auction will go to a trust for the actor’s 21-year-old daughter, Meadow Rain Walker, who manages the Paul Walker Foundation – an organisation dedicated to providing grants and scholarships that benefit marine science.

Jackson added: “Paul was a racer at heart. We’re told Paul spent countless hours on the track perfecting his racing skills. When Paul purchased the five BMW M3 Lightweights, he envisioned them as his own investment vehicle.”
