BMW has revealed a further teaser of its new 3 Series, which is set to be unveiled at next week’s Paris Motor Show.
The 3 Series is described by BMW as being the “core” of the German carmaker, and is its best-selling model across time.
The seventh-generation saloon has been teased under a draped translucent cover, which shows the 3 Series’ close connections with the larger 5 Series, and also a more muscular stance than the outgoing model. L-shaped LED daytime running lights also show through, as well as LED puddle lights on each of the door handles.
BMW is keeping its cards close to its chest with the new 3 Series, with few details being revealed so far.
BMW has previously outlined the car’s extensive pre-production testing process, through a number of conditions – ranging from deserts to ice to climate control testing in Death Valley, Nevada. It’s also taken it to Germany’s Nürburgring where the fine-tuning of the dynamics has taken place.
What the firm has said, though, is that the new 3 Series will have a lower centre of gravity than the last, as well as being up to 55kg lighter. The most powerful four-cylinder unit BMW has ever made is also destined for the 3 Series, alongside an eight-speed Steptronic transmission, but that’s where the details end.
Elsewhere at the Paris Motor Show, the new Z4 roadster and 8 Series Coupe will make their show premieres alongside the first public appearances for the new X5 SUV and M5 Competition.
The unveil of the 3 Series will be livestreamed from the French show on October 2.
