As the nights begin to draw in and the weather takes a turn for the worst, perhaps you’ll choose to drive to work to shelter from the rain.
This may require more trips to the petrol pump but, thanks to a new discount campaign from Sainsbury’s, it won’t leave drivers with empty pockets.
Drivers who fill up at their local Sainsbury’s petrol station are eligible to collect extra Nectar points for every litre of fuel they purchase.
Motorists can take advantage of the offer throughout October, which the supermarket says works out to an equivalent cash discount of 5p per litre.
The timing is certainly fortuitous, since the latest data from the AA revealed that the average price of petrol fell below 110p per litre last month – the first time since March – after reaching highs of 117.28p in June.
What’s more, there is no limit to the amount of time a motorist can fill up. But you’ll have to make most out of it, because it’s for one month only.
The offer follows the latest salvo in the on going fuel price battle between the leading supermarkets: Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Asda and Morrisons.
According to The Telegraph, Sainsbury's head of fuel Avishai Moor said: "This is one of the biggest points giveaways we have ever done and will really boost our customers' Nectar balances in the run-up to Christmas.
"We know that fuel can be a big expense, so we are happy to be able to reward motorists in this way."
