Mercedes E-Class diesel plug-in hybrid now available to order

The Mercedes E300 de, the manufacturer’s new diesel plug-in-hybrid, is now available to order — with first deliveries scheduled for spring 2019.

Prices start at £47,700 for the saloon, and £49,700 for the estate.

The E300 de features a 194bhp 2.0 litre diesel engine, combined with a 122bhp electrically powered hybrid module.

This hybrid powertrain allows the E300 de to achieve 166.2mpg (combined) and emit just 41-44g/km of CO2, depending on body style.

Performance wise, it can cover 0-60mph in around 6.0 seconds, and it’ll go on to reach 155mph.

On electricity alone, the car has a range of around 35 miles. Charging from 10 to 100 per cent takes under two hours with a 7.4kW charger.

There is a generous amount of kit on offer throughout the trim levels. For example, the entry-level SE model comes with blind spot assist, widescreen cockpit, and four USB ports to name a few.

Optional packages Mercedes offers on this car include the Premium Package, which adds things such as COMAND online, memory package, and wireless charging for £2,395.

The higher grade £4,395 Premium plus package, adding on a Burmester surround sound system among other things, is another option customers have when building their perfect E300 de.

According to Mercedes, this new member of the E-Class family “redefines the executive hybrid segment, providing the ultimate combination of diesel’s long-distance efficient and frugality with the emissions-free running of electricity.”
