The Kia Telluride has just been crowned World Car of the Year by a group of 86 jurors from around the globe.
The Telluride, which is only available in the US, is Kia’s answer to the BMW X7 and Volvo XC90, and is the brand’s flagship SUV. While there are no plans for it to make an appearance any time soon in the UK, it does hint towards the styling direction of future Kia SUVs – in particular the next-generation Sportage and Sorento.
It has been a good year for Kia at the awards, as not only did the Telluride walk away with the top honour, but the Kia Soul EV was also crowned 2020 World Urban Car.
Thomas Schemera, executive vice president and head of product division at Kia Motors Corporation, said: “Everyone at Kia is truly honoured to receive not just one, but two awards from the World Car Awards judging panel.
“This is one of the hardest-fought competitions in the global automotive industry, proving that the Telluride and Soul EV are both truly outstanding vehicles.”
The World Car Awards is comprised of 86 prominent automotive journalists from 25 different countries around the world, and each of the jurors were appointed by the World Car Steering Committee based on their expertise, experience, credibility and influence.
