Kia has revealed that its new XCeed crossover will arrive in UK showrooms this September, with orders now being taken for the upcoming model.
The SUV-inspired take on the Ceed is the fourth variant on sale now, with the regular model joined by the ProCeed shooting brake and the Sportwagon estate in the line-up.
A range of petrol and diesel engines are available for the XCeed, with a 118bhp 1.0-litre petrol and a 1.6-litre diesel developing 114bhp serving as the base units.
The effective flagship unit is a 1.4-litre petrol with a 138bhp output, while a 134bhp version of the 1.6-litre diesel unit is also available.
There are three trims available at launch, with the base ‘2’ trim featuring 16-inch alloy wheels, LED lights all-round and an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Safety kit is considered too, with lane keep assist and forward collision avoidance assist systems both equipped as standard.
The ‘3’ spec gains 18-inch alloy wheels and part faux-leather upholstery, as well as a 10.25-inch touchscreen with a built-in navigation system, as part of a raft of improvements to the car for customers paying the extra premium.
The top of the range model is the First Edition, with increased safety tech including blind spot collision warning, and an upmarket interior featuring a 12.3-inch instrument display and a JBL premium sound system.
Based on the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus-rivalling Ceed hatchback, the XCeed will slot in above the Stonic in Kia’s SUV/crossover line-up, though it is in fact being touted as a Compact Utility Vehicle, or CUV.
If the XCeed’s £20,795 starting price is a little too steep, take a look at our great range of used Kia Stonics here on Motors.co.uk.
