Kia has revealed that the new Ceed will be priced from £18,295 when it goes on sale in the UK on August 1.
The third generation of the hatchback, which comes with a seven-year and 100,000-mile warranty, has what the South Korean manufacturer describes as an “athletic” design, along with new technologies to aid comfort, practicality and safety.
The new Ceed is the first Kia to offer level two autonomous driving with driver assistance systems on offer including Lane Following Assist, Driver Attention Warning and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist.
Various engine options are available. An updated version of Kia’s 1.0-litre T-GDi petrol unit can be selected, which now delivers 118bhp, 172Nm of torque and CO2 emissions of 125g/km, or 122g/km with the ECO Pack.
Meanwhile, the current 1.6-litre GDI engine has been replaced with a Kappa 1.4-litre T-GDi unit, which produces 138bhp, 242Nm of torque and emits 130g/km of CO2, or 128g/km with the ECO Pack.
There’s also a 1.4-litre MPi unit with 98bhp, 134Nm of torque and 142g/km of CO2 (137g/km with the ECO Pack).
Kia’s new U3 diesel engine is also on offer – a 1.6-litre CRDi unit available with either 113bhp or 134bhp, 280Nm or 300Nm of torque, and 99g/km to 109g/km of CO2 emissions depending on power output, transmission and whether the ECO Pack is fitted.
Emilio Herrera, chief operating officer of Kia Motors Europe, said: “After more than a decade on sale, the Kia Ceed continues to underpin the brand’s consistent growth across Europe.
“Like its predecessors, the new model has been designed and engineered exclusively for European buyers, fine-tuned thanks to the feedback from a growing Kia customer base. More than 1.3 million Ceed vehicles have been manufactured since 2006, and the new model builds on everything that owners loved about earlier generations.
“The Ceed offers a contemporary, recognisable design, something which has been a key strength for the model since its inception. Advanced new technologies make the Ceed more comfortable, convenient to use and safe.
‘‘Meanwhile, a range of new engines and European-tuned ride and handling will make it more enjoyable and engaging to drive, and Kia’s unique seven-year warranty provides unrivalled reassurance to customers about the quality of their new vehicle.”
