Ford has announced plans to launch a brand new luxury sub-brand called Vignale.
Seeking to offer greater luxury and specification for demanding customers, the company is to showcase this new direction on a Mondeo concept, due to be unveiled at this month’s Frankfurt motor show.
The car, which will be shown in both hatchback and estate guises, features an enhanced specification over the standard Mondeo.
Externally, the Vignale Mondeo concept wears unique front-end styling, including a chromed grille and a redesigned front bumper. The door handles and mirror housings have also been chromed and the car sits on new 20-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, there is extensive use of quilted leather, with not only the seats and door trims swathed in hide, but also the centre console and instrument panel. The Vignale’s enhanced equipment specification includes on-board Wifi.
“Influences that range from architecture to fashion combine to give the Mondeo Vignale Concept a sense of high quality and a feeling of timelessness – alongside the very latest advanced technologies,” said Stefan Lamm, exterior design director, Ford of Europe.
Ford is pitching Vignale not only as a top-tier trim level, but a new ownership experience, which will see customers get a dedicated contact at their local dealership and access to concierge services amongst other benefits.
Vignale will eventually sit above the current top-of-the-range Titanium X trim in the Mondeo model line-up when it reaches dealerships early in 2015.
Similar versions of the brand new S-Max people carrier and forthcoming Edge SUV will follow.
