Ford announces pricing for new Fiesta ST hot hatch

Ford has issued prices and trim details for its new Fiesta ST hot hatch, which boasts industry-first tech and an all-new three-cylinder petrol engine.

Priced from £18,995, the new ST is competitively marketed against rivals such as the Renault Clio R.S. and Peugeot 208 GTi.

Three specifications are available – ST-1, ST-2 and ST-3.

Standard equipment includes Recaro seats, ST sports suspension, electric and heated door mirrors, cruise control, lane-keep alert and Ford’s Sync 3 infotainment system, which includes Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and DAB radio.

ST-2 costs from £19,995, and adds climate control, heated front seats, a B&O sound system and a larger eight-inch touchscreen.

Range-topping ST-3 models are priced from £21,495, and come with 18-inch alloy wheels, red brake callipers, sat nav, and safety features such as traffic sign recognition, high beam assist and driver alert as standard.

The new model is the first Fiesta ST available from launch in three- or five-door bodystyles -the latter costing roughly £600 – but it does boast
extra practicality.

You can also pay £850 for a Performance Pack to enhance the ST’s ability. The pack adds a Quaife limited slip differential, launch control and specially-developed Michelin Pilot Super Sports Tyres.

A new smaller 1.5-litre EcoBoost three-cylinder petrol engine develops 197bhp and 290Nm of torque, allowing the hot hatch to accelerate from 0-60mph in 6.3 seconds and onto a top speed of 144mph.

It’s the first Fiesta ST available with selectable drive modes, as well as force vectoring springs that provide sharper turn-in ability and responsiveness. The new engine is also the first car to feature cylinder deactivation on a three-cylinder engine to improve efficiency. A cylinder can be deactivated –typically when cruising or coasting – in just 14 milliseconds.

Leo Roeks, Ford Performance director for Europe, said: “Hot-hatch drivers are expecting big things from this small car. We’ve applied what we’ve learned from recent Ford Performance models including the Focus RS and Ford GT to develop an all-new Fiesta ST that sets a new standard for driving fun in its segment.”
