Fiat announces pricing for new Fiat 500 Collezione special edition

Fiat has announced pricing for its latest special edition 500 city car – the Collezione – which is on sale now, priced from £13,875.

Available as both a hatchback and a convertible, the 500 Collezione stopped off in London’s trendy Covent Garden on the second stop of its European city tour – after the marathon started in Milan. London is the city where Fiat sells the most 500s outside of Italy, too.

The Collezione marks 10 years of distinctive 500s, and is the 30th special edition 500 produced. It follows multiple partnerships with brands, such as fashion designers Gucci, yacht manufacturer Riva and supercar manufacturers Ferrari and Maserati for the fiery Abarth special editions.

While the new 500 went on sale in 2007, it was not until 2008 that special editions were launched. A hefty facelift a few years ago has kept the chic and fashion-conscious city car as popular as ever, with Q1 of 2018 being the Italian firm’s best quarter for sales – shifting 60,000 500s worldwide.

Both the hatchback and convertible are identically priced and it comes paired solely with a 69bhp 1.2-litre petrol unit that accounts for 95 per cent of UK 500 sales. It can be had with either a five-speed manual or an Autologic Automatic transmission.

Highlights include chrome-plated front accents on the bumper, bonnet and wing mirrors – a hark back to the original – as well as well as chrome-plated Collezione branding. Elsewhere, exclusive 16-inch wheels come as standard, while five colour options are available, including optional cool paint liveries and two-tone paint options.

On the inside, it comes with two-tone seats, a funky-coloured dashboard and special floor mats. A seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity is also an option.

Fiat last year marked 60 years since the original 500 first went on sale, with several limited editions and Anniversario editions being unveiled. Since 2007, Fiat has sold two million new 500s – ‘these models accounting for 50-60 per cent of overall Fiat sales.

Arnaud Leclerc, managing director of Fiat UK, said: “London has embraced the Fiat 500 like no other city outside of Italy.

“The Fiat 500 is not just a passing trend, it’s a car that does, and has proven, to adapt to suit the times.”
