There’s been a lot of buzz about Qoros, the Chinese car manufacturer in recent months, and the excitement was turned up a few notches with the confirmation that its first production car, the GQ3, will be shown at the Geneva Motor Show in the spring. Aiming to take a slice out of the European car market, the Qoros GQ3 is a quality four door saloon that features plenty of plus points like a sleek profile and educated designs.
There’s a whole heap of kit too, so this motor has big ambitions to be a value for money alternative to continental brands. Among the on board equipment are sat nav, a range of media connections and a seven inch touch screen that aims to take functionality away from dashboard buttons.
Clearly it’s a forward thinking kind of car, and is also expected to score highly on European safety standards, as well as Chinese equivalents. While not much is known about the performance of this car, it’s safe to assume that it won’t disappoint in any regard. Two other models have also been announced, namely the Cross Hybrid Concept and Estate Concept, which are based on the GQ3.
With a hybrid petrol engine, the Cross is more of an SUV; the front wheels are powered by the engine, while the electric motor powering the rear.
The Estate offers more practicality and features a range of different seating options, so is likely to appeal to family motorists in particular. The main point is that Qoros has clearly done its research and has created a series of cars that promise to put the cat amongst the pigeons. Keep an eye out for more information.
