This is the Dacia Sandero Midnight, a new limited edition model of Britain’s cheapest new hatchback.
While Dacia is making a name for itself offering no-frills motoring at bargain-basement prices, that hasn’t stopped the Romanian brand from attempting to inject some exclusivity into its models. The Sandero Midnight is the company’s second limited edition model, following the Black Edition version of its Duster SUV.
Available to order now, priced from £9,345 on the road, the new model is based on the top spec ‘Laureate’ trim level, which already includes features like front fog lights, air conditioning, cruise control, four-speaker stereo and Bluetooth connectivity.
The Midnight edition adds to this specification with 15-inch ‘Aquila’ alloy wheels, exclusive Slate Grey metallic paint and a gloss black finish for exterior trim pieces.
Inside, there is further use of gloss black trim on the door inserts and centre console, while an optionally available ‘Comfort Pack’ adds electric rear windows and a leather wrapped steering wheel, while full leather upholstery and a seven-inch touchscreen sat nav system can also be ordered.
Customers can choose from a 0.9-litre turbocharged petrol engine or a 1.5.-litre diesel. Both offer similar performance, taking 11.1 and 12.1 seconds to reach 60mph respectively. The petrol model is 2mph faster overall, with a top speed of 109mph. The diesel is currently exempt from road tax, thanks to CO2 emissions of 99g/km, and will return combined fuel economy of 74.3mpg.
The Sandero, like all Dacias, is covered by a three-year/60,000 mile warranty, which includes roadside assistance.
