Abarth unveils revised 595 range

Abarth has shown off its new Fiat 500-based 595 hot hatch, which comes with a new exhaust system as well as new colour options.

The 2019 model year car has received a light update, rather than a full-blown facelift, although the additions will likely keep it popular with the firm’s loyal following.

Two new colour options are available – a vibrant Adrenaline Green, offered on the Competizione and Trofeo trim levels, as well as Asphalt Grey on the new Turismo trim.

A new sports exhaust is now standard on the Competizione and Trofeo trim level. It’s a ‘Record Monza Active’ system, which features active valve control to adjust its loudness and a Sport button. Pressing the Sport button gives the exhaust note a deeper rumble.

Four trim levels are available – including the entry-level 595, Trofeo, Turismo and the range-topping Competizione.

It remains available as either a three-door hatchback or a convertible, and with a turbocharged 1.4-litre petrol engine delivering either 143bhp, 158bhp, 163bhp or 178bhp – the latter being able to accelerate from 0-60mph in just 6.5 seconds.

Standard equipment includes a flat-bottomed steering wheel and a Sport button to adjust the torque output. Trofeo is a special series model, and adds equipment such as track telemetry, Koni rear suspension and revised damping to improve handling and stability.

The Turismo is said to be inspired by Italian grand tourers, and is the most luxurious model in the 595 range – adding niceties such as a premium leather interior and an Urban Pack, which comprises of automatic lights and wipers, and parking sensors. The range-topping 595 is the Competizione which is the all-out performance model, said to offer “no-compromise” to sports car fans.

Each trim level comes with slightly tweaked styling, as each model is offered with different coloured bumper inserts, and different dashboard trim colours. A five-inch touchscreen is offered as standard on all models excluding the Trofeo, which instead gets a seven-inch screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

As before, a range-topping Abarth 695 Rivale is available. Inspired by Rivale yachts, this comes with a special two-tone livery and pinstriping.

Prices for the new 595 start from £15,980, or £17,980 for the convertible ‘C’ version, with prices topping out at £24,630. It’s available to order now.
