Kia has confirmed prices and specification for its new Sorento seven-seat SUV which is available now in the UK with prices starting at £38,845.

The Korean manufacturer’s flagship 4×4 is available in three trim levels – 2, 3 and 4 – with all models equipped with LED headlights and tail-lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, USB charging for all three rows of seats, dual-zone climate control and an eight-inch infotainment system.

The mid-range 3 spec adds UVO Connect telematics system – which links the car to the driver’s smartphone – as well as a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system which displays live traffic information, weather forecasts, and potential on- and off-street parking.

Sitting at the top of the range is the 4, which comes with black Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated and electric front seats, panoramic sunroof, a head up display as well as a 12-speaker Bose surround sound system.

The Sorento is available with a choice of two powerplants – a 226bhp 1.6-litre petrol hybrid or a 199bhp 2.2-litre diesel – with a plug-in hybrid version also due later this year. The petrol version features a 44.2kW electric motor and 1.49kWh lithium-ion battery pack, meaning it will offer a claimed 40.9mpg combined fuel economy, with the diesel managing 42.2mpg and emissions of 176g/km of CO2.

Now in its fourth-generation, the new Sorento takes many styling influences from the US-only Telluride, which was crowned World Car of the year last year. However, the designers have tailored more towards a European market. It still gets the trademark tiger-nose grille we’ve seen across the Kia range, but overall it’s got a much more premium look to it.
