Audi’s Q7 range has been updated to include a new 215bhp engine, joining the pre-existing 272PS version.

The latest engine in the Q7 line up promises a lower CO2 output than its predecessor, and higher mpg, with impressive figures of 49mpg and 148g/km emissions.

Buyers who opt for the SE trim of the new Q7 will benefit from extra efficiency thanks to modifications to the water pump, oil cooler and combustion process. Smaller 18-inch wheels can also be specified to further reduce fuel consumption.

The 3.0-litre 215bhp V6 TDI doesn’t disappoint in performance, producing 316lb ft of torque, which is converted to the road via an eight-speed tiptronic automatic transmission. A top speed of 134mph is possible in the luxury crossover SUV, whilst 62mph can be reached in just 7.3 seconds.

These impressive figures are in part due to a weight reduction totalling 325kg throughout the redesigned Q7, in areas ranging from the car’s suspension, engine drivetrain and bodywork.

All-wheel-drive is an optional extra in the Q7, and makes it stand out against other SUVs of its calibre. When travelling at low speeds, the front and rear wheels turn in opposite directions, resulting in a one metre reduction in it’s turning circle, allowing for easier manoeuvrability when parking. At higher speeds the rear wheels turn with the front by up to 3.5 degrees to enhance steering response and improve stability.

Inside the cab of the new Q7, an array of technological features are available. A high quality Bang & Olufsen sound system produces an incredible 3D sound experience, while the Audi Entertainment Mobile system can be installed to keep rear seat passengers happy.

Audi’s drive select adaptive dynamics system is standard for all versions allowing the driver to switch between five driving modes: auto, comfort, efficiency, dynamic or individual. S and SE trims also have Audi parking system plus with front and rear visual and acoustic guidance, hill descent control and keyless go.

The new Audi Q7 3.0 TDI quattro 218PS is available to order now for delivery from October. On the road prices start at £47,755.
