New city car and small saloon confirmed for show. They'll reach the UK later this year.
This is the Spark, Chevrolet’s new city car. It will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month, and begin sale in the UK later this year. The five-door car will come powered by 1.0 or 1.2 petrol engines. Chevrolet claims the car will offering ‘outstanding’ passenger space for its overall size and will be keenly priced. Prices and exact specifications will be announced closer to launch, but we’d expect starting prices below £7500.
As well as its European markets, Chevrolet plans to sell the car in the USA and India.
Partnering the Spark will be the Cruze (left), the make’s new four-door saloon. This car, which is intended to replace the Lacetti, is primed to steal a least a few sales from the Ford Focus and Vauxhall Astra. But while its four doors plus boot layout is popular in some of the other European markets it will sell into, and also in India, in the UK we much prefer hatchbacks. So the Cruze won’t win as many customers as it could.
A 1.6-litre and 1.8-litre petrol engines and a 2.0 turbodiesel will be offered and we’d expect prices to run from £10,500.
