Audi has revealed the latest incarnation of its popular Audi A3.
Inside, the new A3 now features Audi’s impressive virtual cockpit, which provides information to the driver via a 12.3-inch diagonal screen mounted where the car’s dials are traditionally placed.
Bluetooth connectivity is also included, allowing drivers to access their smartphone’s call and media functions.
Now slightly longer and wider than the previous model, the A3 will provide better interior space for occupants. Twelve new paint colours are now available to choose from.
That variety of choice extends to the engines. With three petrol and three diesel units to choose from, there’s a choice for anyone. At the bottom sits a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which still provides 200Nm torque – enough to make the A3 sprightly around town.
A 2.0-litre petrol engine is also provided, with Audi’s four-wheel-drive Quattro system also available.
In SE trim the A3 comes with 16-inch wheels, ranging up to 19-inch alloys.
For the first time, the Audi A3 is also available with Matrix LED headlights. These incorporate sweeping dynamic rear lights, which add a level of dynamism to the back of the car.
A plug-in hybrid version is also available in the form of the A3 Sportback e-tron. This uses a 75kW electric engine in conjunction with a 1.4-litre petrol engine, providing excellent emissions figures. The electric batteries can also be charged in just over two hours.
UK orders for the A3 are set to open in May, with first deliveries of the car coming in the summer.
