Following its launch at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, the Fiat 500S is to go on sale this summer, hot on the heels of the standard 500 which was launched in the UK last September.
The 500S features a heavily revised cabin, with contrasting detailing black seats, a TFT instrument display with reconfigurable settings, a special fascia finish and a sports steering wheel.
On the exterior of the sporty city car, sports bumpers, special side skirts and a rear spoiler feature, while the door handles, tailgate, "moustache", mirror fairings and 15-inch alloy wheels are finished in "Satin Graphite", which contrasts nicely with the car’s two body colour options of electronica blue and matt green.
Fiat’s new Uconnect 7-inch HD LIVE touchscreen infotainment system will come as standard in the model. This offers a wide range of functions, including Bluetooth hands-free system, voice recognition, Bluetooth streaming, USB connection, a 3.5mm auxiliary jack, DAB digital and FM/AM radio.
Featuring alongside Uconnect is the exclusive BeatsAudio sound system, which makes its debut on the 500S, and will be introduced into the Italian carmaker’s other models later in the year.
The BeatsAudio system was developed in conjunction with Dr. Dre, and boasts a seven-speaker system that produces a total output of 440 watts. It can recreate the sound experienced by musicians in a studio via a digital amplifier integrating an advanced equalisation algorithm.
Also set to become available later in the year in the Fiat 500 range is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.
Full specifications and prices on the model are yet to be confirmed.
