Prices and specifications for the all-new Abarth 595 have been announced, giving drivers an insight into the latest incarnation of the popular hot hatch.
Starting at an exceptionally good-value price of £15,090, the 595 is powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which produces 145bhp.
The 595 is also offered in three specifications – standard, Turismo and Competizione.
Although the standard 595 produces an impressive 145bhp, the Turismo and Competizione models produce 165bhp and 180bhp respectively.
Cars can be driven through either a five-speed manual gearbox, or a sequential system with shift paddles.
Ideal for those who love pushing cars through the bends, the new 595 incorporates a mechanical limited-slip differential, which manages the delivery of torque between the front wheels to provide the very best grip levels at higher speeds. This allows drivers to corner faster and harder, while removing much of the understeer usually associated with a high-powered front-wheel-drive car.
The front end of the car has been heavily revised over the previous generation, with larger air intakes and a beefier rear diffuser giving the 595 a sportier look.
All-new 17-inch alloy wheels also give the 595 a more commanding stance, and drivers are able to select one of 15 new colours for the exterior.
Inside, there’s a healthier dose of alcantara trim than before, while carbon fibre accents give a nod towards the Abarth’s sporting intent. A new flat-bottomed steering wheel also mimics that found on much larger sports cars.
Prices for the 595 start at £15,090 for the base car, rising to £22,290 for the Competizione Convertible.
