Aston Martin has pulled the wraps off a new go-faster version of its already-rapid Vanquish model.
The Vanquish S is one of the fastest road-going Astons ever made. Its 6.0-litre V12 has been tweaked to offer an extra 27bhp, so the headline power figure is now 595bhp. Torque remains the same as before at 630Nm.
Naturally, a couple of tenths of a second have been shaved off the 0-60mph time, which is now 3.3 seconds, while the top speed remains 201mph.
A number of mechanical tweaks accompany the hike in power to help accommodate the extra performance. The eight-speed gearbox now shifts quicker, while the suspension has been sharpened up in the car’s sportier modes.
Aston is keen to point out that this grand tourer has not lost its cruising ability, though, as the ride remains as relaxing as before in comfort mode.
On the outside, the already-stunning Vanquish has been given an aggressive makeover. A new bodykit includes a new front splitter and race car-style rear diffuser, which features four large exhaust tailpipes.
The Vanquish’s body is made from carbon fibre, and the new styling touches highlight this by exposing the lightweight material in various places.
Other aesthetic upgrades include diamond-turned alloy wheels, optional graphics packages and carbon bonnet louvres. For the interior, buyers can choose satin carbon for the dashboard and luxury Bridge of Weir Caithness leather for the seats.
The Aston Martin Vanquish S starts at £199,950.
