An electric version of MG’s ZS has been revealed at the Guangzhou Motor Show.

The car – dubbed eZS – is set to be powered by a 148bhp single electric motor driving the front wheels, which will also provide 350Nm of torque. According to MG, the eZS can travel 266 miles between charges.

It’s apparent that a form of fast-charging will be available too, as MG claims it will charge to 80 per cent in just half an hour.

Visually, the model shown at the event featured interior architecture typical of current MG models, and very few exterior changes. There is no obvious locale for a charging port, and thus it has been speculated that it will be housed under the MG badge.

There are no immediate plans for the eZS to arrive in the UK, though the increasing market for electric cars could see it join the line up soon. However, with the Chinese market whole-heartedly embracing the EV, supply and demand in the home nation of MGs parent firm SAIC could well be a fly in the ointment for those potentially interested in an electric version of the ZS in Britain.

There are plenty of great deals on the MG ZS available here!
