Mercedes has revealed new teaser images of its upcoming EQE saloon as the brand plots to rapidly expand its electric range over the coming years.

The new EQE will sit beneath the EQS in the brand’s EV line-up – in the same way that the E-Class slots under the S-Class – though the two cars are set to share very similar styling.

While the teaser image doesn’t reveal a huge amount, it shows the EQE’s sleek and curvy shape, which looks to be more rounded than a traditional saloon car. You can also clearly see the full-length LED lights at the rear, which is a cue typical of Mercedes’ electric ‘EQ’ models.

The EQE’s interior has also been showcased in a darkened picture, which shows a similar wide touchscreen as the EQS, along with digital dials and a generally very modern and minimalist cabin.

Mercedes will reveal the EQE on September 5, just ahead of its public debut at the IAA Mobility show in Munich that’s held between September 7 and 12.

But the EQE won’t be the only new electric Mercedes on show, as the firm says it will also show the ‘first battery-electric luxury saloon from Mercedes-AMG. The firm promises this model will offer strong performance, as well as ‘involving and emotional handling’.

Mercedes’ luxury Maybach division will also show off a concept car that previews what we can expect from the brand in an electric era.

Elsewhere, the seven-seat EQB will be seen in Europe for the first time, while an armoured S-Class and more rugged C-Class All-Terrain will also be premiered.
