Mazda has announced that early adopters of its new electric MX-30 crossover will get a free home charging box with their purchase.

The MX-30 is Mazda’s first EV, and aims to offer a quirkier alternative to traditional electric cars, with its cool styling and enjoyable driving experience, though its compact 35.5kWh battery does limit the range to a slightly underwhelming 124 miles.

But Mazda has now announced that buyers of its First Edition model, which is limited to 500 cars in the UK, will come with a free wallbox home charger, providing the car is registered by the end of March next year.

Supplied by NewMotion, the home charger will be supplied and installed for free and will easily allow for a full overnight charge.

The MX-30 First Edition is priced from £27,495 and is available in either Ceramic Metallic or Polymetal Grey Metallic colour for free. Standard kit also includes an electric driver’s seat, adaptive LED headlights, a reversing camera and leatherette upholstery.

Mazda Motors UK managing director Jeremy Thomson, said: “Our first all-electric Mazda heralds an exciting start to our second century in business. With the First Edition MX-30 order book now open, customers in the UK can reserve a car for just £800 for delivery early in 2021 and the addition of free home charging installation further adds to the excellent value of this limited-edition model.”

Following the First Edition models arriving in March, the rest of the MX-30 line-up will be available in April, with prices starting from £25,545.
