The original Mini was launched 60 years ago and to celebrate that hallmark, Mini has launched a new special edition.

The Mini 60 Years Edition has exterior and interior changes compared to the standard Hatch, with a new British Racing Green paint, black roof, wing mirrors, special bonnet stripes and two-tone 17-inch lightweight alloy wheels being applied.

Inside the anniversary theme continues. All of the models feature dark maroon leather and come with the 60 Years emblems (found on the steering wheel, door seals and front seats) and customisable interior with ambient lighting.

UK examples will have front mounted rally-style spotlights to commemorate the original rallying Mini winning four rallying championships from 1964 to 1968.

The Mini 60 Years Edition comes as standard with LED headlights, LED fog lamps, rear LED lights, sport leather steering wheel, sport seats, automatic air conditioning, automatic wipers, 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth connectivity, wireless charging for mobile phones, parking sensors, a reversing camera and puddle lights.

In terms of engines, the 60 Years Edition is powered by one of four engines, including the 189bhp and the 2.0-litre petrol engine taken from the Cooper S. This is paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission which can reach 145mph.

The new Mini 60 Years Edition will be built at the Mini plant in Oxford and is available from March, with prices at £29,990. Only 500 examples will be available in the UK.
