Car servicing centre Kwik Fit has announced that it will be hosting fitness sessions designed to get rid of spare tyres – by using their tyres.

The sessions, which use only car and van tyres available in centres across the country, are being trialled at the New Kent Road garage in South London. Each fitness class, entitled ‘Fit Kwik’, is designed to burn up to 1200 calories while being just 30 minutes long and completely free.

The idea was devised after Kwik Fit technicians noticed that their health was positively benefitting from lifting heavy tyres on a daily basis. Kwik Fit technicians then worked in partnership with personal trainer Mikah Simpson to devise a back-to-basics fitness regime.

Paul Boulton, retail sales and operations director of Kwik Fit, said: “We think everyone is exhausted by faddy diet plans and complicated exercise regimes – we want to put the fun back into fitness for the everyday person with a no-nonsense class that doesn’t take itself too seriously.”
