It’s fair to say that Jose Mourinho is a little bit stressed at the moment. A home defeat to Sunderland at the weekend saw his team lose grip on the Premier League title race and a difficult trip to Madrid for a taxing Champions League match tonight are likely to lead to some fresh grey hairs appearing on his head.
But things took a positive turn last week when Jaguar handed the Portuguese manager the first F-Type R Coupe to land in the UK.
Jose is the new Jaguar UK ambassador, which means he has to turn up at the odd event and say a few glowing words about the British brand but it does mean he gets to drive a rather flashy company car around free of charge.
According to Jaguar, the F-Type R Coupe was specified, “according to the exacting tastes of football’s master tactician,” meaning a Stratus Grey metallic exterior paint job, 20-inch alloys, a panoramic glass roof and a 12-speaker Meridian sound system all feature.
It was an honour to receive this spectacular sports car from the gentlemen responsible for building it – Jose Mourinho
The car was handed over by two carefully selected Jaguar manufacturing employees who had been given the task in recognition of their tireless work for the brand.
Steven Gaut, a Jaguar Castle Bromwich employee who has raised over £60,000 for charity during his time with the brand said: “It was exciting to deliver a vehicle that I have personally had a hand in producing to Mr Mourinho.”
Jose Mourinho said at the event: “I am very proud to now own the new F-Type R Coupe. It was an honour to receive this spectacular sports car from the gentlemen responsible for building it and I would like to thank the Jaguar team at Castle Bromwich for producing such a wonderful car.”
We’re not sure if the £85,000 range-topper – which is powered by a snarling 5-litre V8 engine – will change the fortunes of Jose’s West London club but it will ensure he arrives at every game in style.
