The Frankfurt motor show is already hotting up, with a number of manufacturers releasing computer-generated imagery of upcoming concept models.
Not one to rest on its laurels, Jaguar has unleashed a stylish teaser image of its forthcoming SUV concept vehicle, dubbed simply C-X17, at least for now.
A popular theme amongst manufacturers this year is to create a concept that acts as a showcase for a new architecture that will underpin upcoming models. The C-X17 is no different, as the marque revealed it is to illustrate “the diversity of vehicles that could be produced using this architecture, which underpins the innovative future of the Jaguar brand."
However, the bigger picture surrounds the fact that the dark silhouette image released by the British manufacturer look distinctly like a small SUV. Surprising, considering Jaguar’s sister company Land Rover appears to be cleaning up in the executive 4×4 market at the moment.
Further details of the upcoming model remain firmly under wraps but we do know it will be based on a new ‘high-advanced, modular aluminium architecture’ that will also likely be used for refreshed XF models and a rumoured small Jaguar saloon.
The new, lightweight basic structure will work wonders for fuel consumption and performance figures as well as improve structural rigidity for improved cornering and ride.
More information will be revealed on September 9 when Jaguar unveils all to a select group of invited guests, but given the huge popularity Jaguar Land Rover is currently enjoying, we'd wager that this will be the must have car on the school run in the very near future.
