The humble Smart car may not be everybody’s cup of tea. If we are brutally honest, they are a bit stumpy, underpowered and can just about fit a week’s shop in the back if your passenger is prepared to share the load-lugging duties.

But what if we told you that a Smart car existed that featured a ridiculous 1300cc engine that had been lifted from a Suzuki Hayabusa, would you be interested then?

The video below features a couple of Austrian guys who have done just that; swapped out the tiny 54bhp engine and replaced it with that of the fastest production superbike in the world.

The result is a comical couple of minutes that sees the brutally modified Smart sliding, spinning and generally making a rip-roaring noise as it attempts to navigate a rather thin driveway.

It’s all wonderful stuff but it would be far more entertaining if the featured driveway was fashioned from gravel.
