Hyundai has revealed pricing and specification for the new i20 Turbo Edition.
The hatchback is powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 101bhp. It promises to be ‘entertaining’ while also offering low CO2 emissions of 104g/km.
On the exterior, the Turbo Edition gets 16-inch alloy wheels and will be offered in six different colours. These are Polar White, Aqua Sparkling, Sleek Silver, Stardust Grey, Phantom Black and Red Passion. All cars come with a black and grey interior.
Based on the SE trim, the Turbo Edition sits in the middle of the i20 range. That means it gets Bluetooth, DAB digital radio, cruise control with speed limiter, and a leather wrapped steering wheel with audio and phone controls.
To differentiate the new model from the SE, the Turbo has a rear view camera, automatic lights with dusk sensor and satellite navigation via a seven-inch integrated touch screen.
Owners will also receive a free seven-year TomTom Live Services subscription. This allows the satellite navigation system to offer up-to-date traffic information, speed camera alerts and weather updates.
Hyundai is keen to highlight its successes in the World Rally Championship alongside the Turbo Edition, which is clearly designed to be a nod to the company’s sportiness in spirit if not in outright performance. A new television advert explaining how race technology will filter down to road cars will debut on 19 September.
The Hyundai i20 Turbo Edition has been designed, engineered and built in Europe. It will be priced from £12,975 OTR when it enters showrooms this month.
