The Skoda Citigo is one of the best-rated city cars available to buy today, offering a decent amount of interior room for a small exterior size. Comfortable and good to drive, the Citigo is perfect for those wanting something small and nippy to get around. However, with a large variety of options and specifications to choose from, making a decision on a particular style is extremely difficult. We’ve picked three of the best to make that choice just a little easier.
The smart choice for those on a budget – S 3 Door
The S is the base level Citigo. While this does mean there aren’t as many toys to play with, there’s still a lot of equipment provided as standard.
There’s a height-adjustable steering wheel and an excellent folding rear bench. Lowering this gives the Citigo a genuinely useful load area, ideal for much larger items. We’d add the comfort pack for £400, this adds electric windows and remote central locking. Both are creature comforts which lift the Citigo from being just base spec runaround.
There’s only one engine choice, which makes decisions easier. Luckily, it’s an excellent motor – a 1.0-litre engine that suits the Citigo’s character down to the ground. With power sent to the road through a five-speed gearbox, it has just enough power to make the little Skoda feel exciting on twisty back roads, as well as being perky enough for around town.
The smart choice for low running costs – SE 3 Door
The SE gives you the option of specifying a car with GreenTech systems, which are measures taken to make the Citigo as efficient as possible. The SE has lowered suspension, which means there’s less wind resistance to slow it down. Less resistance means better fuel economy.
Additionally, there’s an extra instrument panel with RPM gauge. Outside, there’s a chrome radiator grille and body coloured door mirrors and handles.
Owners of the SE also get a driver’s seat with height adjustment, electric windows and air conditioning. It also has remote central locking, but does come in at £9,495, before optional extras.
The smart choice for technophiles – Monte Carlo 3 Door
The Monte Carlo incorporates a range of additions designed to add a little more luxury to the Citigo. The centre console is now finished in cherry red, and the dashboard pad is painted in gloss black. All of the details are finished in chrome, this means the door handles, air outlets and radio. The leather steering wheel also has red stitching, and there are four extra speakers over other models.
On the outside, the Monte Carlo has 15-inch black alloy wheels along with black exterior features such as a rear spoiler and front splitter.
Darkened rear lights add to the classy extra look, and this model also has Monte Carlo logos on the side windows.
Taking into account the extra equipment, the Monte Carlo appears to be excellent value for money, coming in at £10,670.
